Genghis Khan became emperor by uniting many nomadic tribes, these tribes were mostly from the northeast of Asia. He founded the Mongol Empire and was proclaimed "Genghis Khan" by the Mongolians. He started the Mongol invasions where he conquered most of Eurasia. He invaded and conquered the Kara-Khitan Khanate Caucasus, Khwarezmid empire, Western Xia and Jin dynasties. When invading they often massacred a lot of the civilian population. Genghis Khan conquered nearly 12 million square miles of territory in his lifetime, more than any individual in history.
